Shrek 5: Rumpelstiltskin's Revenge is released on December 28, 2019 (exactly fourteen months after Puss in Boots ). It is the first Shrek film not released in May. Donkey is the main character instead of Shrek (who only appears in flashbacks).


Donkey and Fiona are still grieving about Shrek's death, so they hold a funeral for him at the Poison Apple.

Rumplestiltskin, meanwhile, seeks to pluck Fifi's feathers and make dresses for Fiona and the rest of the female Far Far Away residents out of the feathers.

The film grossed a few hundred thousand dollars more than the original Shrek did. The film earned $267,699,885 domestically, along with $217,362,661 in foreign markets for a worldwide total of $485,062,546.
